January 10, 2019 - Lively acid of a refreshing character, very ripe and plummy, lightly smoky; bright floral note slowly emerges. Very rich flavour of great depth and length; slightly tannic still. Powerful, complex finish is a hint smoky. A superb wine!

September 16, 2014 - Your basic beefy palate powerful Chambertin albeit with some elegance, but actually not there yet. The interesting to me aspect of this wine is how much younger it was than the 1971's on the table, on this night easily the superior wines. I'm thinking that far from being in the window, this needs another ten years easily. Reflects the vintage I think precisely. Hard tannins - the hardest of any red burgundy vintage in my lifetime, with the 1983's not far behind, but at the same time with wonderfully concentrated fruit extract. I'm thinking patience will be rewarded for anyone who has stored this wine at between 47 and 53 degrees more or less since 1986 - the story of this bottle.
My thought is that patience will be rewarded. Lesser quality storage, this wine is likely dead.

September 15, 2014 - What a great wine. Stored perfectly more dark fruit. Very meaty muscular with good acidity. This wine looks young and has great depth and freshness. Wow..thanks Neil

May 15, 2012 - Mazis-Chambertin Dinner (Sepia - Chicago IL): Fill and color were very good, label was quite decayed and showed lots of mold. Open over 2 hours before served, not decanted. Excellent aromatic start with floral and spice right behind a great mushroom character with hints of black fruit. Much less interesting on the palate with simpler earthy flavors and more modest spice. Others liked this more than I did tonight.
