October 16, 2008 - Old Vs. New World with Bristol University Wine Circle (Goldney Hall, Bristol): Not my thing at all. Very interesting to taste but wouldn't want to drink more than half a glass of this.
Nose is absolutely dominated by tar/fireworks/gunpowder. Very hidden fruit, loads of oak. On the palate burnt metal and oak is coming through very strong. I find so little fruit here... Balances well at the back though, finishes warm but not hot,still too much oak though. More residual sugar, a little clammy. Very interesting but not recommended.
