June 18, 2023 - Who says new world Pinot can’t age. This is stunning and at the perfect age. Forest floor, mushrooms, black cherry and cranberry. The fruits are still quite juicy but the earthy elements are a wonderful contrast. Seemless but still subtle. Surprising complexity with additional nuances of soy sauce, almond and rose. This was worth the wait.

September 2, 2016 - I drank a 2004 Shea Special Select yesterday and decided I needed to drink up my older Oregon pinots, so I picked this one. Full bodied, ripe and rich ... somewhat atypical for an Oregon pinot. Dark purple/burgundy and opaque with a nose of ripe, rich dark fruit - plum, blackberry, spice and earth... but with a lot of alcohol that never really blew off. Big and rich texture, but the flavors are a bit muted and lacking depth. Long, slightly drying and bitter finish. Overall decent, but not special.

April 18, 2015 - Fruits are tired and the wine is flat - mostly plum and dried cherry and with no vibrancy or depth. Licorice, earth and leather dominate the mostly muted flavors. Medium body with a seamless, silky texture and a surprisingly sweet finish. Only going to decline further with more time.

February 5, 2012 - Initially seemed promising when the initial burst of primary fruit mellowed out and revealed an interesting gravelly layer underneath. Unfortunately the alcohol, labeled at 14.4%, was just too stinging, and air made it worse, with the fruit actually reverting to its primary sweet state.
