March 27, 2023 - Served blind. Guesses were all over the place from aged N Rhone to old Barolo to Burg. Overall this was very good but nothing that tells you Volnay. Color beginning to fade a bit but the wine was terrific. There was some olive tapenade along with darker fruit, good acidity, red berries, moderate spice and plenty of minerality and polish. Its time to drink these 98s - not in decline but not going to improve from here.

December 7, 2018 - Really a great experience. The wine is vibrant at 20 years of age. The nose is great, unfortunately the mouth is not as great otherwise that wine would have been fabulous. Impressive efforts for a Volnay. Served blind, most of the people at the tasting guessed it was around 10 years old.

June 13, 2014 - Never would guess this to be a Volnay blind, but a wild and wonderful ride nonetheless. Powerful gamey and earthy aromatics. Same comes through on the palate along with still-vibrant reddish fruit. Great texture. No rush, but an excellent and intellectually provocative adventure right now......

November 19, 2011 - Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Red fruit on nose with a fair amount of fresh herbs and spice. Not as floral as I would have thought from a Coche Volnay based my limited prior experience. Lush red fruit comes through clearly on palate, supported strongly by lots of remaining structure. Power comes through on finish. While this was my last bottle, I still don't think this is in its peak drinking window.
