Community Tasting Notes 9

    December 31, 2023 - From a magnum.
Might be the best CdP I have had.
Gorgeous floral violet nose with candied cherry, tobacco, white pepper, licorice and a finish that goes forever. Completely resolved tannins, but nice acidity. Stunning wine. A $40 find on Winebid.
Cork came out solid. No sediment. Poured into a magnum decanter and consumed.
Stored properly, this wine likely has a few years left.

December 25, 2018 - Found this in my cellar and decided to hav ewith prime rib. Clearly missed the time frame to drink it. Cork crumbled and wine didn't taste good.

February 10, 2017 - Still drinking very well! Bottle looked like it was brand new so I'm guessing it was well taken care of. Cork broke in half so I strained and decanted. Dark brick colored. Just a little bretty but that blew off quickly. Still a fair amount of fruit left. Smooth and very pleasant although after a couple hours there was a little bit of bitterness. Overall I loved it as an aged CdP.

December 11, 2014 - Lean, good acids for its age. A bit of mushroom and earth. Very nice, especially at a $30 price point. (Though I got it a bit cheaper at auction.)

June 8, 2013 - Mucho vino at the 15th annual birthday jeebus. (Joe's.): Seems like a CDP for those that are normally CDP averse as it's rather lean with high acid levels. The red plum and red berries are quite tart and with air a strong iodine note took over. There's a resinous character along with some game, licorice and spice notes and it's a bit dry on the back end. Needs more flesh. B.
