July 27, 2014 - Bottle sent home to me as a gift. This is the first time, I could actually enjoy the smell in a bottle. I enjoy wine but use to think that the descriptions were b.S.. I really enjoyed this bottle and was sad when I got to the end of the bottle.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are slow. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like cedar. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine has low acidity.

August 14, 2011 - LOL@ Tim Fish's 71-point review for Wine Spectator. I do get the peat moss character he mentions, especially on the nose, but get real, man. Nose has cherry, vanilla, dried herbs/oregano, and the aforementioned peat moss. This is a light- to medium-bodied Syrah, cherry and raspberry fruit balanced against good acidity, with a fresh, sweet finish.

September 28, 2007 - This wine is made from organically grown grapes of the great Mendocino County region of California. An unremarkable Syrah for only $15 dollars. Surprisingly absent of black pepper, but features intoxicating aromas of sweet spice and vanilla oak. Velvelty smooth with a prominent flavor of heavy oak, tar and vanilla accents followed by concentrated black plum, cherry and blackberry. Probably better with food that complements it since the heavy oak can be quite overwhelming without some contrast.

For the 2006 vintage I tasted on 08/27/2009, my rating dropped 2 points to 88.
