July 10, 2017 - Outstanding, and this just starting to show some development. There's a honeyed and smoky tinge around the ripe citrus, apple, and peachy fruit here, and air brings out more of those herbal/pine needle notes that are classic Grunhaus. Still rather sweet, but impeccably balanced with bright acids giving it plenty of cut and lift.

January 31, 2015 - Rieslingfeier 2015 Main Event (The Wythe Hotel, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY): Now we are cooking with gas! The nose is creamy and spicy, baked, herbs. Just killer on the palate: amazing acid, baked apple, tangerine. Really sweet but balanced like a Catoir HGS barbell (huge sweetness and acid teetering). Great herbs and spices. Nose - 4.5-5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 16.5-17.5/20.

April 1, 2012 - A very deep gold colour, somewhat overdeveloped compared to the otherworldly 1994 version of this remarkably finely-detailed and visually stunning label. What the colour suggests is reflected in the bouquet with citrus peel, ripe yellow peach, yellow nectarine and concentrated lime aromas with touches of honey and slate as top notes. In the mouth things continue to the beat of the same drum with a honeyed, fat texture, masses of extract (aka to what’s found in the nose) but cleaned up nicely by some essentially slate-driven acidity. Long, satisfying finish. About the top end of excellent. 8.5% A/V. For the near term. 90
