October 22, 2010 - Aromatic--tons of cedar, violets. Disappointing flavors, though. Hollow and medicinal with vanilla. A little heat. Firm tannins. Could age more on structure, and the bouquet is really nice. But doesn't have the layering and delicious factor I really like. I can see why this is a blender, nice aromas, but lacking in mid-palate and finish.

April 3, 2009 - Never had a pure petit verdot before and found it interesting. Quite jammy for my taste, but I like the combination of spicy and floral.

December 25, 2008 - This is my first straight Petit Verdot. I must say I like it. I like it a lot! Right from the pour it is loaded and spices and flowers. The nose it's thick with celery seed, thyme and roses with a touch of strawberry preserve. In the mouth all you taste is tannins up front; it grips your tongue a like vice and doesn't let go. This wine is not for beginners. After you get pass the tannins the strawberry flavors really come though with basil and tomato. There is also some hints of sugar that I find a bit austere but not prominent enough to deter from the great flavors of the wine. The finish lasts about 30-40 seconds but since I haven't had any Petit Verdots prior I can't say whether this is on the long or short side.

All and all I like this wine a lot though I think it's hard to pair with food.

Remember, you don't drink the label.
