August 8, 2021 - A little life left but not much. Oxidated but still drinkable.

January 19, 2019 - I like this wine but I wish I had consumed it in 2015. Very developed but definitely not over the hill. Spice and cedar, touch of brown sugar, supple acidity and red fruit in the finish it is very distinguished. I bought this a few months in a shop in Portland as I always wanted to taste it. So the storage history is unknown I am not sure it being done any more, which would be a pity, it really does show the finesse of Barbera. I served it with a braised beef ragu (daube) over polenta. Great match, the other foil was a 2005 Faugeres from Leon Barral which also excellent.

January 6, 2018 - Pop n pour, worked out well. Color is a darker ruby, with a slight tawny toward the rim. The aromas take no time to emerge, and flourish - red currants, soil, ripe strawberry, blackberry, more soil. The palate, perhaps as expected, reveals a fully mature wine. If this started out as a full-bodied wine (it did), what we have now is more akin to an aged, medium-bodied claret. Which is another way of saying that there's plenty of acidity backing this up, and the wine is also in fine balance, it's just fully mature, and more cerebral than fruit-driven, per se. Each of the five, successive, glasses seemed to add a touch more weight, the finish added a little, too, each time, but at the end of the day, this can only go so far. A very good choice for a veal scallopine and pappardelle dish. Absolutely drink now or in the next year or two for best enjoyment. Cork and fill in vg condition. 14,0% abv. recommended

May 30, 2015 - (Tasted at the Vintage Piedmont Tasting at the Wine Watch, Ft. Lauderdale). This is my second tasting of this Barbera; the first time, I was very unimpressed. This time, however, I really enjoyed this wine ,which is the amalgamation of the grapes of 6 of Asti's greatest Barbera producers. Their finished wine is a very dark purple concentrated Barbera that tastes of blackberries, black cherries, strawberries, licorice, and leather. Overall, the wine is very smooth tasting, medium bodied, and complex, with a lengthy finish and well integrated tannins.

December 14, 2014 - Popped and poured, decanting isn't necessary, medium plus bodied, very smooth, good balance, no heat, average finish, should hold up another 3-4 years. Good value.
