March 7, 2015 - Great QPR. Drinking well now and paired well with Italian food.

October 2, 2013 - Its fading. 7 years on this wine is a couple too many. Last had the 2006 in November 2011 and loved it. Now, the tannins are mostly gone and the distinct berries, vanilla, and plum are getting muddled together. Pleasant, but nothing like a couple years back. Have one more of these and then I move to the 2009. Going to adjust my drinking windows on all the future vintages to be no more than 5 years.

June 15, 2013 - Tasted a little tired. Seems to be at the end of its drinking window, I would not wait, nor would I have high expectations. Its good, not great.

May 25, 2013 - Deep ruby purple in the glass. Somewhat shy nose gives dark plum, purple fruit and vanilla oak. Palate echoes the nose though with greater intensity of fruit. Tannins are firm but supple giving the wine a velvety structure that puts it several notches above most Merlots of it's class.

January 25, 2013 - Deep ruby purple color. Intense nose of vanilla plum. Jammy stewed plum on the palate. Nice supple-to-firm tannins let it stand up to beef as it should. Drinking very nicely now, but should yield satisfaction though 2016. This wants Porterhouse.

Tasting of New California Arrivals, Episode #954, 11/23/2010 (link) 88 points(Luna Napa Merlot) #3; COLOR-dark; NOSE-smell like there is a forrest fire; the Oak Monster is in full effect; heavily oaked (nutmeg; vanilla); there's some black cherry, but the cherry tree has been hit by a Hacksaw Jim's 2x4; this is almost uncomfortably oaked; PALATE-this wine is rallying on the palate; good firm structure; really nice taste; I really like this cranberry component that's bouncing on the attack; it is oaked; clearly vanilla and cedar box; thick and viscous; nice tannins; well made; this is a little too oaked for my palate, but many would enjoy this; good solid wine for $16 bones; ST-92; GV-88
