March 30, 2013 - Deep ruby, orange hue on rim.
Sweaty sock, chocolate... a bit of pepper. Old World Zinfandel.
    Very Gamey. Juicy.
Nice, still going strong. Please have it with a nice steak.

October 1, 2012 - Starting to loose its fruit. Nice ruby color in the glass, full-body wine. Funky at the open, but dark fruit, wild flowers, pepper, smoked bacon takes over after 30 min. Short finish but pleasant food wine.

May 28, 2012 - Thru Vinturi - nose of barnyard & dark berries. Palatte continues the same plus plum and no tannins to speak of. Definitely not a fruit bomb, but enjoyable. Shared with others so no verdict on additional decanting benefit.

August 19, 2011 - Rose and earth on the nose. Nothing of depth on the palette. Strawberry and blackberry w dirt. Nothing spectacular by any means yet not offensive. .

March 12, 2011 - March 12, 2011 and this is still drinking very well. I agree with the barnyard on the nose (sheep's bum as Gary V would say) but it's not overwhelming. Smooth and full bodied without any tannins at all. Excellent value at $14.

(Botromagno Primitivo) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-really dark fruit and chocolate; not over-the-top like many CA Zins; more Old World w/ some sweaty sock action; smells smooth; some red beet action; black currant for sure; little hint of black pepper; PALATE-this is the kind of Old World wine that I love; black tea; grilled meat; very juicy; nice roundness; quite gamey; grape and plum flavors; a little fig and some sharpness on the back-end (a little wood mixed w/ tannins; black tea; dark chocolate); very well made; VERY Old World; AG-90; GV-No Score
