October 19, 2011 - Wine has evolved beautifully. Everything has fallen into place. Violets, plums, mixed with chocolate and a little licorice hit you all at once. Long finish, very balanced. Kept open for a few days and did not lose anything and mellowed quite nicely. Drinking well now, but will hold for a few years.

July 13, 2010 - The drinking window on this is much longer than stated. This is still a young wine and needed a full day to open. Once open the tannins still are present and the complexity has not fully evolved yet. I do agree it drinks a little hot. It will be interesting to see how this develops over the next several years. We had a mismatch on the food so this score could be much higher with time and the right company. I give this wine another 5-10 years...easy.

February 7, 2010 - Deep blackberry red color. Pepper, cedar and herb scent. Full-bodied, muscular, coffee and tobacco flavors with full tannins. A little hot.

January 10, 2009 - Restaurant purchase. Dark purple hue. Forward nose of blackberry, ripe currant, cedar, and a touch of heat. Medium-plus body. On the palate, this comes across as a hedonistic fruit bomb, with tiers of black fruits cutting an impressive swathe through the palate. Particularly noticeable is the purity of these flavors and how nicely the oak complements them. Not much on the mid-palate, with little complexity. Tannins are very smooth, almost sexy. This is an enjoyable wine, almost idiosyncratic in presentation...a wine from Wild Hog will almost always take you on an unexpected ride.
