November 21, 2020 - I got into this winery for their Washington cabernet some while back, but there was also this Syrah, and I being a huge fan of the Cougar Crest (particularly the '03) Syrah from WWV, I couldn't resist it. This nose is heady even open to day-2, and one senses that eponymous pepper along with dry bramble and blackberry jam. The palate follows suit and adds a sour component as of dried fruits with limited to little "sugarfication." I like this wine though it does seem to be teetering on its last heel, and risking that "dried out" quality one hears about so much in aged wines. On day-1, the oak was more overt, but its subsided now. Heat is in check, though the alcohol is tasted here and there. All told, this has held up pretty well into its golden years. I'm dissatisfied with myself having not tried one of the two purchased bottles before now.

October 15, 2011 - Smoth and with ripe, tasty fruit. A little smoke and just the right amount of oak treatment as well. Long finish. Would recommend.

May 29, 2011 - Popped and poured. Nose had tons of wet granite and a funky undertone of soy sauce. Not much fruit to speak of either on the nose or palate. Plenty of grippy tannins. More stone on the palate. Not nearly the monumental 04 vintage, but still lots to really like about this wine. Interested to see how my last bottle will develop over the next few years. Would purchase again.

October 20, 2010 - Four Syrah shoot-out clear winner against some good stuff that holds its own when not up against Boudreaux.

September 17, 2010 - Decanted 3 hours. Big bold and balanced Walla Walla Fruit.
