December 8, 2023 - 2023 Athens Wine Event; 12/8/2023-12/9/2023 (Athens, Greece): Tasted blind, went straight for 1980s La La and perfection of wine. The comment was actual one does not win points guessing this textbook beauty.
We have tried this wine 3 times so far over the last 7 years ( What a privilege) and always rated this 99-100 and on this occasion was not different at all.
Savory, well mature, earthy but full of energy, rich but in harmony and of course with that full on smoky, roast meat edge that so defines the La Las and we keep falling in love with over and over. We do not need to say more. 99-100 again and again

October 3, 2023 - The bouquet is off the charts good, the kind that makes you say ‘whoa’ out loud when you first take it in. The fruit is excellent, and leans more savory than sweet. I try to avoid the cliche descriptions with wine, but in this case there was truly a lot of smokiness and bacon fat to go along with beautifully berry fruits

August 9, 2022 - A beautiful wine, really top tier quality that helps me to see what the joy in aging syrah is about. I have a bit of experience with older Bordeaux, but little with mature N. Rhone.

The nose is warm, inviting, not exuberant but neither is it closed. Cinnamon stick was the dominant notes with some dried fruit and spice potpourri. The palate is softened, like thin velvet, with a back slap, top gun style high five that reminds you what a sauvage beast it is. Both in meaty flavor and retrohale on the finish. Such a cool wine experience.

June 4, 2022 - This must have been a rather poor bottle. Real good but not stellar ! No tannin left, a bit over the top ! Rich , round , forest , etc but no tension or the je-ne-sais-quoi you get from perfect la-las. Sadly a single bottle. My first Top Guigal below expectation.

April 7, 2022 - A fantastic bottle, that to me is less La La and more just damn fine wine (if that makes any sense).

    (E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque) Dark red violet color; pepper and beef jerky nose; gorgeous beefy, peppery, Canadian bacon and beef jus palate with finely resolved tannins; long finish
