December 25, 2022 - Christmas dinner, from half. No TN, from memory.
The refinement, elegance and complexity on the nose is simply stunning. On the palate the sweetness is now completely integrated and there is a constant play between that, a savoriness, the acidity, and all that with remarkable lightness and at the same time depth and complexity. It is a privilege to drink such a wine.

May 17, 2021 - Light a feather while at the same time densely layered with fruit and acid. In a great place right now as many have noted.

December 21, 2020 - From half bottle to commemorate Wilhelm Haag's passing. 1990 is for me the greatest Mosel vintage since at least 1971, maybe since 1949. But the wine is of a very different style from today, due to global warming. The wine is not overly sweet now, but is intense, driving, penetrating, pure, and slaty. Still great acidity, concentration, and focus. Cellared since original release.

November 24, 2019 - Stunner of a Riesling. This is just amazing with fresh Mosel fruit and herbs, gentle understated sweetness, and so much developed complexity and depth here. It's remarkably bright and vibrant with the powerful acids of the vintage giving it lots of lift and energy, and the whole package is a hauntingly beautiful expression of old style, delicate Auslese.

November 24, 2019 - Sunday afternoon wines (Chicago, IL): #08-91, 8% abv. From half-bottle. Absolutely brilliant. Probably one of the best 1990 Germans I've had. The nose is incredible. Refined and dignified, with this beautiful herbal and slatey element. The palate is sweet, but the acidity of the vintage manages to work with the sweetness perfectly. It's an elegant wine for a more civilized age.
