October 20, 2021 - Deep burnt burgundy/brown color showing its age. Scent of prunes, full bodied with muted tannins.

January 16, 2015 - Aired in a decanter for two hours.

Clear ruby rest, rusty orange on the edges.

Strawberries are very prosent on the nose, sweet pipe tobacco, something that resembles eucalyptus. Intense feel.

Juicy mouthfeel, good tannin structure. Strawberries and smoked cherry wood. Very good, but surprisingly short after taste.

Felt better straight after opening than after waiting in the decanter.

March 24, 2013 - Lots of dark berries and oakiness. Big tannins and acidity, would have benefit from more time in the cellar perhaps. On the next day it´s somewhat smoother, I wouldn´t say silky tannins though. Rustic Brunello, not very complex.

January 22, 2009 - Mark De Grazia selections: 05 Barolos, 04 Brunellos, 06 Barbarescos (MK, Chicago IL): nose: very dark nose filled with black cherries, dried herbs, spices tones, anisette, and black berries. Very rich nose, though a bit tight with very good depth and class to it

taste: Very rich and deep with great medium feel providing classic tones of leather, dried herbs, anisette, black cherries, and bits of spice. Good medium+ acidity and very big tannins

overall: a good amount to like about the wine right now, and much more to like in the future when it emerges from its tannic shell. Great nose that needs a bit of coaxing and a great feel beaneath the tannins
