February 6, 2022 - 3rd or 4th time having this wine, and tonight's was clearly the best yet. Ripe red cherry and berry throughout with an enchanting spice profile (faintly sweeter than I'd prefer) that makes me think whole cluster, but I doubt there is much/any here. This has finally come together and I look forward to enjoying my remaining bottles now-2032.

August 16, 2020 - Served blind. Based on the cloudy profile when I poured it, I had a pretty good sense this was going to be an older Summa. Got that right. This is my 3rd bottle of this in the past 2 years and I would say this bottle showed some age, more than the previous too. It has some aged character that is starting to pop out in the aromatic. Tangy, piney, crunchy red fruit, orange peel....classic Summa OV. Still a bit creamy in the finish, with some cedar notes and I believe the wine is transitioning from new to old in tone. I don't like older wines so if you are off that preference, I would start drinking these.

April 27, 2020 - Cloudy almost barn red color.

What a nose! So expressive and present. First impression is all types of baking spice - cinnamon, nutmeg, chinese five spice. A touch of cherry and orange zest. But really... baking spices.

Lovely balance on the palate. Strong red/black fruit presence. For me, black cherries and raspberries. Definitely an orange zest character, with that citrus acidity carrying through to the end of the palate. Love this style. Feels Californian without being heavy or blown out (sort of like old fashioned Williams Selyem).

April 20, 2020 - Virtual Tasting with Thomas Brown. Very fragrant aromas of red cherry spice. Fruit is strawberry and while slightly fades, shows soaring spice and impressive complexity. Dry strawberry and earth, nice acid, and structure with a surprisingly long finish. Thomas told the story of how this was Burt's (Williams-Seylem) favorite Rivers-Marie wine because it captures Summa qualities so well.
