  July 22, 2023 - 2nd bottle of this from 2 purchased at auction; another excellent bottle; this was mature, but still very fresh; the nose showed some forest floor and earthy/mushroom alongside some sanguine/iron notes; however under that all was a lovely core of fresh and ripe dark berry fruits; some violet with air; very good depth with fully integrated tannins and lovely feel. Very much enjoyed. I don't see much upside to cellaring, but certainly didn't seem anywhere near declining.

  July 16, 2023 - Elegance on the nose. Pretty and inviting aromatics. Touch floral. Hint of spice on the nose and followed on the palate. Red and black fruits dominate on the palate, cherry the strongest. Black cherry. Blackcurrant. Quite high toned. Developed a touch of fruity spice over time. Touch of iron on the nose. I also pick up some menthol. I Like the balance, with good acidity and plenty of elegance overall. Very fine tannins. Quite regal.

  April 10, 2022 - 2/6, excellent cork.
  Medium garnet core, pale garnet rim. Nose shows dark fruit, meaty notes, spice, soil, touch of iron. Quite masculine. Medium bodied, spicy dark fruit on initial attack, quite mouthfulling but with a firm tannic backbone still evident, fresh, savoury acidity, good length still firm finish. Enjoyable if quite muscular. May mellow. Next bottle 3 years.

  April 6, 2022 - From 75cl, exquisite cork, decanted 1 hour. Consommé, soy sauce and dry oriental spice scent; thin, acidic, tannic entry; crabby mid-palate badly needed (but then responded well—as a palate-cleaner—to) cream and Madeira sauced chicken; the finish is dry, tannic and offers a (short) tingle of resonance. This rustic, powerful-but-slender PN is a stern, humourless, "gastronomic" surprise given the soft, even flabby, qualities I remember from Bachelet's Gevrey villages (1999, 2002, 2006) and the intense, sensual hyper-concentrated berry fruit of his Charmes Chambertin GC (1999). Of three bottles of DB G-C Corbeaux purchased (2x 2007; 1x 2006) this is the first which I can remember actually providing real pleasure. Marginally overpriced at 47,50 EUR retail back in 2013. 89-90P
