July 10, 2023 - Subsequent notes on this wine from 8 years ago. Dark, reddish violet in color with clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & currants with overtones of spices & oak/vanilla, floral notes of violets, earthy/dusty, cocoa/coffee, leather, minerals, tobacco, herbs & hints of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & currants with spices, herbs, mushrooms, cocoa, spices & hints of oak/oak. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & at 19 years of age, it is at or close to its peak of development. Although it may hold here for a few more years, I doubt any further development would occur from additional aging. Fill was in mid-neck; cork was stained 1/3 on bottom but otherwise intact.

April 27, 2019 - Agree with below tasters. I bought this bottle in Montalcino in 2012. The in store tasting was excellent. The wine has not aged well. Flat, unimaginative. Sort of tastes like a Brunello but you can do as well wih a $14.00 bottle of Aglianico or Nero di Avila...

March 13, 2017 - Shame that this ended up so thin and tasteless
