November 27, 2022 - 100% century-old Syrah from around fifteen places (Combe, Les Côtes, Patou, Les Eygas, Champelrose, etc). Vinification and aging by plot for 14 months in barrels of 3 wines. 13.5% abv. Bottle simply uncorked 30min before tasting. On the nose, predominant sherries alongside nuances of mushrooms, a dash of violets, still some resinous traces and a bit of black olives. Also leather and wet fur notes. No completely clear-cut aroma but a rather pleasant overall fragrance. Anyway, some clues allow us to guess that the rest of the tasting will be mixed. The mouthfeel is extremely silky and of a great finesse, with an assertive structure that perfectly holds the wine. On the mid-palate, the infused flavors of cherries, blood orange, cold ashes and black olive tapenade seem out of breath. However, the persistence is interesting, with tertiary notes and an elegant touch of truffle. Poor storage conditions or a fast approaching end of life: this bottle has clearly exceeded its ideal tasting window. To drink urgently.

September 14, 2021 - Mis-entered as 2009, so I opened this late. Not too late, luckily. Stored for around a decade. First glasses show a lot of black olive, morphing into sour cherry. Very northern Rhône. Drink up!
