February 5, 2009 - Popped and poured. Deep reddish-purple hue. Pronounced nose of assorted black fruits, currant, and a lifted, almost floral aroma. Medium-plus body, nicely concentrated. The fruit on the palate is jammy and ripe, with prominent notes of black currant, mocha, and certainly a nice kiss of oak. Tannins are round and soft and the fruit carries through on the nice finish. A crowd pleasing Cabernet for sure, if only lacking in complexity.....and really, probably one the best Cabs (if not THE best) I've ever tasted from Mendocino.
