April 25, 2024 - Purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this bottle was decanted off of its sediment and serially tasted over a four-hour period. Deep garnet in color, it fully opens aromatically after the first two hours in carafe, unleashing a complex bouquet of dark plum fruit that is accented with red licorice, violets, sage, aged leather, truffle, eucalyptus and cigar box. Medium-bodied, fresh and with well-integrated alcohol (13%), it delivers flavors mirroring the aromas. At this stage the oak and tannins have fully integrated, resulting in soft textures that are pervasive on the layered mid-palate and lengthy finish. Now at 24 years of age, this vintage of du Tertre has developed beautifully. Comparably cellared bottles should reach their thirtieth birthday with grace. Drink now-2030.

February 21, 2024 - Still holding up well despite CT indicative drink date by 2020.

Fourth tasting. Pronounced nose intensity with notes of leather, forest floor, cooked red and black fruits, spices. Medium acidity and medium tannin. Medium finish. Decanting 1-2 hours will improve.

February 10, 2024 - Drunk with grilled tenderloin. Cool dark fruit nose, continuing on to the palate with well integrated graphite notes. Excellent balance, still showing some structure w fine tannins on the finish.

(Chateau Du Tertre) Gorgeous nose of violets, blueberries, light vanilla, graphite & lots of mineral. Very elegant and layered nose. Silky palate of crushed blackberry and other red berry fruit. Firms up on the finish but there is a great fruit soak but finishes tannic and leaving you wanting more which I am sure it has in reserve.
