Community Tasting Notes 7

October 28, 2014 - As per previous note; not a bad wine - just poor value.

September 25, 2014 - 20 months since my last tasting. 1 hour decant.
This wine has fleshed out and now has a ripe cooked cherry flavour profile and enough acidity to balance. A touch of heat. Medium length.
Moved up 3 points since Feb '13 but still too one dimensional to justify price. Also I fear now at its peak and for perhaps another year or so max. Can't see this improving further.

February 16, 2013 - Bottle unscrewed 45 mins before consumption.
Clean cherry aromas carried forward onto the palate in spades. Fresh acidity concentrates the fruit but in the end this a one dimensional wine.
Perhaps with a little more age will open up and develop some complexity. Will report back. Seriously overpriced for an OK wine as it currently stands.

February 5, 2013 - Dark pink-red color with medium transparency. Aromas show slight reduction notes of sulfur and cabbage initially. Eventually, black cherry, cranberry, and thyme notes emerge. Later, coffee elements also appear on the nose. The palate initially has reduction and cran-raspberry fruit with slightly medicinal cherry cough drop notes. The finish is medium. A half bottle left for the next day takes on deep coffee notes as it oxidizes. This one appears to be shut down right now and needs to be left for another 18-24 months before resampling. Hold.

March 3, 2012 - Certainly getting better with age. I am slowly coming round to the 08's right now and am very impressed with where they are going. Testament to the fact that good Kiwi pinot benefits from a few good years in the bottle.
