October 13, 2023 - Single blind. Like it's flight mate this shows muted. With some coaxing the fruit flashes some spice and florals and gains some plushness but you really have to work for it. Solid, but no more than that, and perhaps that's fine given the village-level bottling.

October 13, 2023 - Barbaresco vs. Barolo (Chicago, IL): Served single blind. Next to the 2000 Barolo, it was pretty obvious that this was the Barbaresco, if those old adages were to be believed. The fruit was lighter, more red, and the wine in general more acid-driven. Like the Barolo, this was very much mature and ready to drink; in fact this isn't one that I think has much further aging upside relative to the single-vineyard bottlings. Nevertheless amply enjoyable (and in hindsight better than the stewy bottle from a few months ago).

June 1, 2023 - Dinner at avec River North (Chicago, IL): This started off pretty poorly -- kind of stewy and pruney, and we weren't very optimistic about it. But then after having poured about half the bottle out over the course of dinner, this really seemed to get its act together. Somehow it became more perfumed and showed more red fruit; brilliantly aromatic and very much Giacosa in style. Admittedly not as complex and full on the palate as a single vineyard, but unmistakably high quality nebbiolo all the same.

March 13, 2021 - So GiacosašŸ˜»! Just beautiful Bouquet of red fruit, roses and liquorice. So elegant, so fine. A haunting Barbaresco!

April 21, 2019 - certainly mature and lacking a little in fruit but an interesting wine nonetheless - drink soon
