December 27, 2019 - No formal notes but this wine is drinking extremely well right now! Great nose and concentration. Wish I had more!

October 29, 2018 - Ripping now. Shows power, sweet/sour, complexity. Almost at its apex, a stunner. Grab a giant t bone and savor this.

October 16, 2016 - First bottle in 11 months and my next-to-last one of a half-case purchased back in 2010. This has aged very gracefully. A modern-style fruit-bomb in its youth, now fully mature and much more elegant and harmonious. Full-bodied and rich, with a plush, velvety texture. Though its fruit has faded noticeably, there is still plenty of ripe, delicious dark cherry and pomegranate character here, along with spice and savory elements, too. Its moderate acidity is in perfect balance with its still-ample, remaining fruit. Displays tremendous intensity on the mid-palate and a long, long finish. The tannins are fully integrated and silky smooth. At its peak now, this should continue to drink beautifully for at least another 3-5 years. 92+

(La Colombina Brunello di Montalcino) #1; COLOR-medium dark; NOSE-very aromatic; beautiful sour cherries; a little peppermint action; some really ripe raspberries coming through on the back-end; very nice nose; PALATE-big ripe fruit; ooh, this is good; great structure; very complex and dry; a crushed rock minerality that you usually see in white wines; a little forrest floor action; some gaminess and dirt action; very complex wine with big fruit; this is downright delicious and pretty much rips my face off; I like the creaminess; I love the sweet and sour flavors; I like the rosemary and spice; this is a big time wine; this is SPECTACULAR and at $38 is a value of a BdM; WS-92; GV-94+
