December 17, 2014 - The second bottle of this wine was decanted for an hour and a half before drinking. Again I was surprised at the vibrancy and freshness of the fruit for this 13 year old vintage. The nose on the wine is somewhate muted but that's ok because this wine is all about the fruit. Red and black berries, some plum, and dark cherries. As the wine was consumed with the food, I tasted more chocolate and casis. The wine is full bodied, with medium alchohol, and a real nice mouthfeel. The tannins have integrated nicely over the years leaving a well balanced enjoyable wine that went well with a cured meat platter and a porcini pasta dish. The finish on this wine was particulary notable as the tastes seemed to linger on the palate for a long time. Thanks to my friend Dave you gave me the wine to enjoy at a restaurant that specialized in Abruzzo cuisine!

December 16, 2014 - the wine opens with slightly more tannins than I would have expected but they soften over the course of the next hour. This is a relatively dense, full bodied wine with unexpectedly vibrant fruit and a nice mouthfeel. Seemingly still young, the wine has many years left on it, but is drinking wonderfully right now. On the palate are a mix of red and black berries with little oak (if any). chocolate and red fruits seem to dominate the palate after a few tastes. medium acidity. overall a very nice wine

December 15, 2014 - Medium to dark garnet. Fresh, fruity and earthy nose. nice balanced mouth feel. Tannins moderate at first and ease with air. Nondescript red fruit and a hint of licorice, bright acidity and a fairly long finish. Good with food.

April 20, 2011 - Complex, elegant, supple and delicious. Drinking beautifully now but will offer drinking pleasure for another five years.
