  December 26, 2009 - Oh, there’s that Santa Barbara County “something” again. I’ve called it a stemmy terroir - an earthy greenness underneath the ripe red fruit. I expect many would cringe at this description, and some would not care for the taste, but I truly love it. (And note that I live only 15 minutes from Napa County, so I’m not “pushing” a home product - there’s just something truly unique about the Santa Barbara fruit.) This Koehler is not the best example, nor the highest quality Syrah, but passable, and noteable as a classic Santa Barbara Syrah, a beautiful bouquet, deep violet-red, and the usual spice and tar.

  August 10, 2009 - The nose is plum with alcohol. Dark berries and figs. Very tannic. Almost syrupy. Over the top.
