Community Tasting Notes 1

April 5, 2005 - This dessert wine from Southern Rhone valley was brought to a Rhone dinner. The region is just North of Chateauneuf du Pape and the Muscat grapes are grown on South facing hillside vineyards with soils primarily of chalk and sandstone. The wine is tank fermented and when the desired sugar level is achieved, alchohol is added to stop the fermentation process. I have never had this wine before and I did not like it as much as some of the other members at the dinner. It had aromas of lemon pledge. On the palate I thought it was somewhat thin. Notes of watermelon and pear. Firm acidity. Faded on the finish. 87 points.
