Community Tasting Notes 4

January 8, 2014 - As previous note. Fading fast - drink up! My last.

October 22, 2013 - Decanted for two hours.
Assertive cherry aroma and a hint of charred oak. Typical ripe but bitter fruit flavour but rather hollowing out and lacking the weight and attack one associates with Amarone.
Not unenjoyable but at the end, I suspect, of its useful life. Drink up!

nose: leather, oak, candied cherry. Did not offer much and needs lots of swirling for the nose to develop.
Bitter, not too much tannins, sharp acidity. Alcohol a bit strong for what the wine has to give.
Had this with star anise braised roast beef. The food allowed the wine to shine a bit more.

January 4, 2010 - 4 bottles for 2010 NY Eve. decanted different lenghths 1 hour, 45 min, 30 and 0. The longer the decant lost the slightly overpowering sweetness taste.
