    Bouchon.
    Finale longue digne d’yquem

March 7, 2015 - Opened by Emilio. The darkest D'Yquem I have ever seen (coffee colored). High shoulder fill. Stored in a kitchen for 30+ years. Paired with a flan which Emilio's wife made. Surprisingly pretty nose. Notes of slightly burnt carmel with some raisins and dried apricot mixed in. Tasted tired and worn out but still very drinkable. 83 points.

January 5, 2010 - VTS fill. Foil and cork in excellent condition. Clear deep golden honey color. Bottle opened two hours before serving; decanted 20 minutes before serving, as guided by sampling. Lovely notes of quince paste, apricot, honey, acacia, and spice, with some unobtrusive pine spirits in the background. Viscous, oily, unctuous on the palate. It was a mistake for two people to consume this 750 ml bottle as the only wine with a multi-course dinner: asiago cheese puffs, then green salad, then lobster risotto and lobster tail, then dessert of vanilla cake and creme brulee tart. The wine was simply too rich and fatiguing to be consumed in such quantity.

I could not find much information about this vintage of Yquem. One well-written note in 2005 gave it 85 points. I liked this bottle quite a bit more than that.

    November 1, 2004 - Pale.
A clean nose, honey scented with lavender.
Caramel, marmalade and oranges with a great finish.
