  I have had bad experiences with sub $25 Malbecs and aging. Other than Cuvelier Los Andes wines, they don't usually last more than 5 years from vintage. Unless this bottle was flawed (possibility, but not likely as purchase at same source), my note from 2009 saying this wine "could-age" was way off point!!

  September 30, 2011 - Definition of a Millerized/Parkerized wine. Really interesting nose out of the bottle--blackberry, cedar, violet, licorice. Tastes "purple" for lack of a better term. Silky at first, but the extreme extraction and heat become more obvious over more than half a glass. This is the sort of wine that impresses at first in a tasting environment, but loses its luster over time--a negative time derivative. Well made in its style, and it does literally coat the glass if that counts for something. Don't see much upside for aging given the extraction and heat.

  June 11, 2011 - Overpowering bouquet of berries and licorice, same on palate. Way too big right now without a long decant. Still bold but a little softer after 3 hours. Will hold awhile. Think it has potential
