December 18, 2021 - Decanted. Deep, opaque purple with clear ruby edges and bright tones. Dark and brooding aromas - blackberry & plum, leather, tapenade, beef bone broth, five spice and violets. Massive and concentrated on the palate, with flavors of ripe blackberry and mulberry fruit leading to secondary notes of worn cedar, bitter cocoa dust, paprika and floral spices, along with iron. Broad and expansive across the palate, mouthfilling, with the acidity to support its richness, and wide-grained full tannins. Finishes with plenty of heft and length. At 14 years of age, still at a late-primary stage. Ripe and rich, but not at all hot or lacking in structure. Still very young. Excellent.

November 16, 2019 - Perfect spot. Lots of black raspberry, pepper, some tar, olive with a bit of clove on the backend. Still has many years to go. Very lively. Drink or hold. Awesome wine.

November 8, 2019 - Pretty much on its last legs. Cork gave up the ghost, a good coat of sediment. Still enjoyable, but doubt it’s going to get better.

January 23, 2018 - I think this bottle is on downhill slope. Day 1 Fruit growing muted, alcoholic punch at 15.9% but no heat. Day 2 touch heat. Losing varietal notes. Sadly this just isn’t my style anymore.

March 11, 2017 - PnP a glass, then let breathe for 90 minutes and consumed over the next two hours. Complex and full bodied with notes of currant and dark fruit -- primarily black cherry, blackberry and blueberry, olive, bacon, baking spices, smoke, cigar box, and some herbs on palate. So nicely balanced with very fine chewy tannins, mouth watering acidity and a long velvety finish. This is drinking optimally, and showing zing and freshness, which makes me think this still has a ways to go. Excellent, this still has quite a bit of life ahead.
