April 16, 2021 - Bottle 3/3. Brief decant. Very pure if restrained fruit. Mostly black with some red. Smooth. I felt it waa nice but quite restrained still backward with very nice fruit and aniseed. Very little nuances and probably needs another few years if you like some secondary notes to emerge. 94 with upside over many years.

April 8, 2021 - Bottle 1/2. Purple almost opaque with ruby rim. Upon pouring into decanter quickly revealed expressive dark fruit and floral aromas, which lasted for some time. After nearly 2.5 hours when poured into glass the nose had almost entirely faded. The palate was complex and ever changing with tar, graphite, green stem and the occasional burst of stewed fruit. Very nice if more muted than expected and at least this bottle should probably have been decanted for far less time, which I will do with my next one. As others have mentioned very classic Bordeaux left bank and I never would have guessed Napa. Score withheld given the decanting error but seems around 94-95.

June 29, 2020 - This wine was the winer of the night with a lot of great wines. 97+ points easily for this classic Napa which is definitely on the old school, Bordeaux-esque side of what Napa has to offer. The highlight is the balance of aromas with the Napa sexyness balanced by a broad array of earthy, herbal and luxurious oak-derived aromas. Sexy, elegant, very complex, with no excess ripeness or weight. Extremly good to drink now but long life ahead.

TN: Sweet red and especially darker berries, lots of burnt sugar, almonds, herbs, some vegtal aromas, lots of crushed rocks, some meaty notes... incredibly complex, very high precision and ever changing on the nose an palate. While not weightless like the best wines, it remains on the more elegant side of things with a robust but very silky tannine structre, fresh and slightly creamy structure and a very good freshness.

Decanting: 2 hours should do the job.

May 13, 2020 - Second time in2 weeks and I‘m kicking myself for having lost my notes for the first round. But one thing was clear from both times: This is amazing stuff at the peak of its drinking window! Initially ripe red and dark cherry fruit. Showing incredible versatility. Pure with gravitas of the advanced age. Developing unexpectedly intense animal and meaty aromas which lead some in the blind tasting to Syrah. Also dried herbs. Fresh and dense palate that is both great to drink now but also offers plenty of aging potential. After awhile returning back to a more menthol phase. In a group of 9 this was WOTN against competition including Dominus 94, VCC 01 and Dana Lotus 13!

May 1, 2020 - Dense, heavy and bold with ripe red currant, dark cherries, hints of menthol. Incredible range of sweet spices (vanilla, cinnamon, caramel - and constantly changing) and dark chocolate. Despite hardly any aging notes present yet on the nose, the palate feels like an 20+ years aged Bordeaux: fine and velvety, round, in perfect balance and just incredibly enjoyable. The structure is firm with tangible tannin and good acidity pointing to plenty of aging potential left. This is an amazing wine plateauing at its peak and I immediately stocked up by purchasing the last available bottle in Switzerland - sorry not sorry folks...
