January 7, 2017 - Next up in the forgotten bottles project...2 bottles of this left. Purchased from vintners who I knew from business connections...in my cellar since. Slow oxed for 45 minutes and drank over 2 hours. Had with a Chicken Romano and sauteed pasta w/red pan sauce...good pairing but would add a red meat to this if possible.

Great core garnet color, mild separation at the edges. Nose of dark fruits, camphor, vanilla. Rich and luxurious palate of dark fruits, sweet dark cherry, tobacco...some sweetness on mid palate (excellent)...chocolate on the finish. Plush mouthfeel, Merlot content evident...Calif meets right bank...rich and layered finish.

This wine is in a perfect spot right now, better than the last bottles...to be fair those did not get the air time this needs to really show. They stopped making this several years ago...too bad as this has evolved into a gorgeous wine. Drinking considerably better with some air, really opened up after about 90 minutes. One bottle left...

March 24, 2014 - Camphor on the nose; on the palate, a dominating note of coconut with dark fruit underneath, and a medium finish. The coconut shows that the oak hasn't integrated yet -- this won't peak for at least three to five more years. This is a high-octane wine, but the fruit and acid are well balanced, and once the oak fades it should be excellent. However, this is my last bottle. It was an excellent deal at the price ($20), so I'm not particularly sorry I drank them too young... Live and learn. Edit: On the second day, the oaky coconut note has disappeared. Red and black fruit come through, with good balance and a medium finish. This isn't sophisticated, but it's pretty tasty. Score raised by a point to reflect the improvement.

July 5, 2013 - This wine was absurdly powerful. The alcohol was a bit high so it was more enjoyable when slightly chilled. Notes of tobacco and smoke. Really enjoyable.

December 25, 2012 - Popped and poured 2 bottles at a family Christmas gathering. Didn't have a lot of time to open up. Nice Merlot based wine, nose was muted on these bottles when they were opened. Would go well with a heavier beef/pork dish (i had only with cheese). One bottle left, will let it open a bit
