March 18, 2022 - Really needs air (else another 5-10yrs) even from half bottle. Piercing acidity combines with almost sickly gingerbread and apricot, with lots of honey aromas and texture with air, finally showing some tart apple and jasmine with the last sips. Great quality but disjointed - will recap and try in a couple of days. 94pts now but expect it will show better next time… drink 2025-2040

August 29, 2020 - Nose is honeyed, floral, candied ginger, hints of oak and baking spices. Palate is explosive with ripe peaches, apricots, ginger syrup, more baking spices. The wine is smooth and mouth-coating and totally luxurious. I might have been upset about drinking this so early in its window but it is so delicious right now I’m ok with it. Will clearly be delicious for easily another 20 years if not more. Wish I had more : )

January 11, 2020 - I served this in my wine course. Nose of ginger honey apricot. Medium bodied with gingerbread continuing in the mouth. Long perfectively balanced finish. Have always been a bit skeptical of Schaefer, but this wine has won me over. Truly outstanding.

December 16, 2018 - Drank with MCS at the George Town Club in DC

Intense nose with white flower notes. Ripe peaches, melons and apple on the palate. A little plastic; but not much in the way of tertiary flavors yet. It’s beautiful right now and will be even better - and, I think, a lot different. In the next 10 years

June 29, 2018 - Deepening colour. Depth and balance but petrol becoming quite dominating. For those who like mature riesling. Seems to have aged rapidly in last few years.
    Drink soon.
