November 18, 2022 - Kleur: Medium goudgeel, opvallend donker…. Aroma / bouquet: Zeer tertiair, boenwas / kaarsvet, overrijpe gele appeltjes, steenfruit. Een vleugje sherry. Smaak / Afdronk: Mondvullende, dik-sappige wijn. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 15 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 89/100

Colour: Medium golden yellow, strikingly dark…. Aroma / bouquet: Very tertiary, wax / candle wax, overripe yellow apples, stone fruit. A touch of sherry. Taste / Aftertaste: Mouth-filling, thick-juicy wine. Very tertiary, clear effects of oxidation including the hint of sherry and madeira. But for me still super-pleasant, impressive and delicious. But not what I'm looking for in a Haut-Brion of 'only' 14 years old. General / potential: I have always been a great lover of matured wines. But unfortunately most seriously tertiary wines start to resemble each other in the latter part of their drinkability horizon. I don't know if I would have blindly distinguished this Haut-Brion from, for example, an equally mature white Ch9dP or Condrieu. For me still pleasant and impressive, for many others probably a bottle that has had its best time for some time. 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Taste / Aftertaste: 15 + General / potential: 8 = 89/100

June 20, 2021 - A little fat with pear notes, but good acidity and power as well. Seems an early drinking HB Blanc.

August 26, 2020 - Surprisingly flabby, lacks definition.

December 16, 2017 - I have to say that HB Blanc most often is underwhelming when tasted blind in a flight of other great whites. This time up against its peers of white Bdx. Clearly a great, well balanced and elegant with a lot of nerve but never the wow factor. Only time for me is at the Chateau en primeur...

March 27, 2009 - Bordeaux En Primeur 2008; 3/27/2009-4/3/2009 (Bordeaux): Barrel Sample at Chateau. Pure, seamless blend with great acidity, no hard edges. Long finish. Flowing and elegant. Wonderful. 2.7HA, 40HL/ha. 500cs, Oak fermented, 41% of harvest. Blend is 45% Sauv Blanc and 55% Semillon. 93-95pts
