Community Tasting Notes 5

September 22, 2013 - Lovely texture, it was fruitier and fresher than the Tempiers, with less earth and leather but more fresh herbs, all focused by refined tannin and acidity.

December 5, 2011 - Meats and olives made this typical of mouvedre. While the maritime and gravelly notes are definitively Bandol. Really drinking well now, but still demands nice, rustic fare. Slightly hallow in the mid-palate but world class wine regardless.

November 17, 2011 - DC Wine Bloggers Tasting (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): This Bandol has years ahead of it, but it's lovely right now. Very cloudy and gritty in the glass. Rich aromas of black plums, olives and meat. The palate shows sour cherries, olives, meat and leaves. A taste of mushrooms lingers on the finish. I really enjoyed this, and think it will continue to develop complexity for a few more years. The tannins and fruit are still big and bold.

November 17, 2011 - Probably about 5-7 years away from full maturity. Had nice cedar, damp earth, dark fruit and dried florals on the nose. Palate was still dense with layers of florals, dark fruit and mushroom. This is coming together very nicely.

March 27, 2003 - Excellent. Full-on rich roasted mouvedre with cedar, tobacco and flowers. Slight vine-y/stemmy, but not off-putting. Long finish, hot with more raisin. Overall very good and great pairing.

    Paired: Herb-crusted roasted chicken
