July 1, 2019 - Still a giant wine with lots of blueberry, dark fruit, some meaty notes and a lot of tannins. Needed food to balance out

January 30, 2019 - Very good Syrah, nice color, nose, fruit and secondary flavors of leather, tobacco and great balance and finish.

October 26, 2018 - I opened this for my 10/26/18 Series III vertical tasting. It had a deep, rich, expressive nose of smoked meat, char, blackberry, plum, pepper, cardamon and spice aromas. The palate was rich, layered and complex with flavors of burnt toast, blackberry, plum, pepper, spice and minerals. 93+

    February 11, 2018 - Nice wine.
I always am fascinated by the reviews. WA gave it 96. WS gave it 92. Both praised it profusely.
    My take:
Nose was attractive with lots of dense notes. Dark fruit, pepper, bacon fat, it was all there and attractive.
Palate was dense and interesting. This is a WA type of wine with the bigness coming thru loud and clear. It is balanced, with dense fruit and good acidity. The 14.8 abv is not obvious except in the bigness of the wine.
I see the WS perspective. It can be an overwhelming wine to drink as it takes a big meal to balance it out. I for one don't eat foods that often that balance out this type of wine.
Paired with pork ribs tonight and the sauce had a hint of spice. Paired nicely.
    Would buy again.
