November 3, 2013 - Bright citrus, lemon and apple flavors on nose and palate, with creamy vanilla and lemon zest; good acidity, great minerality and balance on fine finish. One of the wines served at my wedding in Santa Ynez in '09, and it still offers great QPR.

February 20, 2010 - Opened this to go with some spicy Thai food the other night, and was very happy with my choice. This has a pale straw color. The nose is full of citrus leaning towards grapefruit, and a nice finishing of graham crackers? It just was a combination of slightly toasty caramel, unusual I thought for SB, but I liked it. On the palate this had a little more viscosity than I am used to for SB, but the the citrusy, bold fruit was great. In addition to the grapefruit this had an interesting watermelon rind aspect that was really fun. I always look to SB for acid, as I always drink SB to actually pair with food. While this had acid, it was somewhat restrained in that regard, but the fruit came through in the end, with a long finish. I enjoyed this wine a lot, quite complex, and for the price a good QPR.

May 22, 2009 - Tasted at La Maison Gourment in Mission Viejo, CA with Doug Margerum. Interesting story about this vintage of the Sybarite; Doug was telling us that while the quality was very high from the vineyards he uses in his SVD Sauv Blancs, but the yields were too low to make a large enough number of cases, so they just decided to put it all into the Sybarite this year. Consistently one of my favorite new world Sauv Blancs, this does not disappoint. Great blend of lemon grass, gooseberry and tropical melons. Pure, Crips and focused. Really excellent stuff.
