June 15, 2018 - Pinot Meunier's most famous role is to be the second red grape after Pinot Noir allowed in Champagne. Rarely is it bottled alone. This wine from Carneros is dark ruby but short of opaque. The upfront impression when sipped is strongly structured by acidity and tannin, with a bright fruit of red and black cherry. Has a smoothness of texture that most likely comes from being 11 years old, plus an elegant leanness most often found in Pinot Noirs, that melds well with diverse foods. Aging well, with nothing tired, thin, or oxidized.

March 11, 2015 - Past its prime but it showed well. 12-18 months ago it would have been better. Good fruit notes, vibrant colour.

September 16, 2013 - I've always found this Pinot Meunier more interesting than most Pinot Noirs. Too bad almost nobody makes them. This particular vintage appears a little lighter than usual, but a very nice nose if you let it breathe awhile.

March 13, 2013 - Great bottle. Starting to show a bit of age, however, as it isn't quite as vibrant as it was even 4 months ago. Very Burgundian in style, dark fruit, very noticable earthiness. If you've got it, drink up. It's not likely to ge any better.

December 3, 2012 - If this was served to me blind, I would have guessed a Russian River Pinot Noir. I might have even guessed it was from a top producer such as Williams-Selyem.

Bright fruit, spice, and a whiff of alcohol on the nose. Similar notes on the palate but the alcohol doesn't come through. This is drinking beautifully right now. I would guess this still has a few years of life ahead of it but why wait?
