February 18, 2023 - Deep amber with a fine red core. Still quite young. Woody nose with tones of furniture polish and tobacco, as well as quite earthy tones. Medium bodied, quite dry attack on the palate. Then a sweet prune-like fruit comes to the fore on the mid-palate, while the finish is quite dry and oaky. There has been fine fruit here, but this wine has always been somewhat overoaked, and that shows even more clearly with age. My last bottle, and it won't be missed very much.

March 9, 2014 - Opened 1 hour ahead. Not very much developed color. Lovely nose of blackcurrants, ceder wood, earth and figs. Very bordeaux like, but that's also the blend of grapes here, of course minus the shiraz. Medium bodied, nicley balanced, slightly earthy and no sign of heat in the good finish. 13,5 % ABV. Drank at 14-15 degrees. A bit of sweetness can be found in the finish if you're picky and the temperature in the glass rises. A very good effort from down under and clearly my best bottle of this wine.

April 19, 2013 - Overpowered by most of the wines on the night, but still one of the better Virgin Hills I've had. Still going OK and should hold for a while. On the lighter end of medium bodied.

February 10, 2013 - Brick red rim; blackcurrants, hint of mint, savoury, retains a freshness; soft, supple, fleshy, refreshing acidity, refined; expansive, suave finish, decent length. No hurry to drink.
