Community Tasting Notes 2

August 17, 2016 - Color: Deep garnet. – Bouquet: Muted black fruit, plum, some spice, a touch of loam. – Palate: Dark fruit, black cherry, blackberry, black plum, prune, a touch of licorice. Mild integrated tannins, ample acidity; medium finish. Fully mature and very nice given it's almost 16 years from vintage. – The wine was paired with Lasagna; a salad of red leaf lettuce, sliced radish, sliced cucumber, garlic croutons, and dressed with a three cheese vinaigrette incorporating Parmesan, Romano, and Asiago cheeses; garlic bread. (14.0% abv)

February 20, 2005 - Very forward and accessible with great depth in the mid-palate. I would like a touch more acidity. However, there are no notes of over-ripe fruit. Overall, a nice bottle to introduce neophytes to modern Barbera. I'm buying a few bottles to share with friends.
