September 2, 2018 - Second blind red wine for our Labor Day get together. We revisited this bottle on day two to see if it had changed. Day two really helped this wine open up on the nose and round out on the palate.

Deep mix of garnet and ruby in the core with bricking on the edges. A bit mute to start on the nose with some herbal spices, a slightly savory characteristics, mint and a little gunpowder. Day two brought along some darker and more rounded elements with dark cocoa, cinnamon, black tea, plums and lavender. Well balanced on the palate with medium tannins (6.5/10) and solid acidity. Started off a bit week with some menthol, dark cherries and jasmine. This definitely gained some elegant richness with dark layers of graphite, plums, aniseed, cinnamon, raw cocoa and gravel with time. Medium plus to full body with the breathing time and a dry long finish. This wine started out like a weeker wet vintage with some light herbal notes and minimal fruit, but developed into an aged valley Cabernet with some finesse and structure showing it is not done yet. Drink till 2025.

Made out of Clone 337 and only 12 barrels produced.

May 4, 2018 - This is over the hill to me, although the fruit is still lush and full, even a bit sweet. The wine is unbalanced by the lack of any tannic structure and high alcohol. Was much better years ago.

February 10, 2018 - Was fortunate to share this with Tor Kenward at a tasting. He said they stopped purchasing from this vineyard in 2010 after the grower changes their farming. He said he hadn't had this vintage in about 1.5 yrs but thought it was well developed and drinking beautifully. He got asian spice notes like tamaric on the nose and cedar wood taste. That was fun!

January 25, 2015 - Two years since my last bottle, and found that it has gotten somewhat flabby as there is not enough tannin or acidity to support all the fruit and alcohol. Lacking structure and balance at this point, which is disappointing.
