January 22, 2023 - Gorgeous Sangiovese, in the zone now, unadorned by oak or ripeness. My kind of Brunello.

January 2, 2020 - A ton of funk upon opening. Familiar for many of these older wines. Made it seem past its "best by" date at first, but give it time. After 30-45 minutes of decanting, it opened up and drank wonderfully. The nose consistently retained a smell of old wood, but the taste was classic Brunello with dark chocolate, dried fig and some raisin flavors. A treat at 21-22 years old.

August 31, 2013 - This wine is great place at the moment. Showing some really nice matured Brunnello notes, but still some freshness too. Really smooth ripe tannins and great balance. Full bodied with ripe dark cherries, hint of dried fruit and leather. Just superb!

March 17, 2011 - Cork broke in half on opening so just decanted it through a sieve which was fine. A bit of barnyard on the nose initially which blew off after a while. The tannins are still evident with the fruit while still there, seeming to be secondary to the tannins. Drying in the mouth too. With more air, it begins to open up more with more fruit coming through. Had it with Bolognese and it certainly paired well with it - it actually drank better with the food than without. According to craig who is far more knowledgeable about Italian wines, this is more of the classic style wine instead of the early drinking ones that is more common these days. A nice wine especially with some air time and with food. Not sure if the fruit will last before the tannins fully subside though.

July 25, 2009 - Slightly ambering around the edges. The nose on this is not as flat as I recall the last bottle being. At the same time, I wouldn't describe it as typical Brunello. Dark fruits dominate the nose. The wine is smooth and mellowed tannins in the mouth. Good for drinking now.
