Community Tasting Notes 43

June 25, 2018 - Dark baked fruit and tobacco notes. Smooth and mellowed tannins - drinking well at its age.

  • NutmegNative Likes this wine: 84 points

May 5, 2014 - Tastes of tar, earth, leather, iodine, with little fruit. Almost Burgundian in nature, with tastes that could only come from an old world wine. A pleasant enough wine to try, but is likely in decline, and has no aging potential at this point.

December 27, 2012 - This had a strong iodine/nori note, with a bit of red fruit behind it, and a decent finish -- like a low-budget Chateauneuf, but not as complex. The fruit seemed to drop out gradually over about six hours, so I suspect this may be going downhill.

November 13, 2011 - Pop and pour. Very pleasant. Dark fruit. A little astringency on the mid palate. It was not very good the next day.

October 31, 2011 - Medium body and simple, but with pleasant varietal flavors. Raspberries, dried herbs, hint of licorice and black pepper.
