June 11, 2023 - Beautiful champagne with tertiary flavors. Drank it along with the 1985 Krug and the Clos des Goisses held it's on. I still gave the nod to the Drug.

June 3, 2020 - This is what aged champagne should taste like. Bursting bubbles, golden color, some yeasty smell but balanced. Long finish. Celebrated 35 years being at our home!

February 2, 2017 - Started off quite tired with a heavily oxidized nose of toffee and caramel. This bottle livened up significantly within 20 minutes and became very expressive and showy. Yeasty and bready nose but with real red berry fruit in the core on the palate. Huckleberry. Effervescence seemed to improve over time which was curious. Definitely a mature champagne but was still able to show alongside an '89 Krug with mega acid. Very fun to try.

July 21, 2011 - First of all, this is the old bottle shape, which sends you back in time -- fantastic. I am partial de CdG, but always a little anxious given bottle volatility (a lot of them have traveled too much, as this was not such a desirable / expensive wine back then). A clear, light colour when poured in the glass (which was a little lighter than I expected, but at least it was clear the wine was not oxydized, a good start!). The nose was crushed peanuts, honey, and promised some fizz. In the mouth, the wine just wanted to expand, as if it had waken up in a good mood! We enjoyed the bottle over several courses of Japanese delicacies, a perfect complement, the third person at the table! What a wine.
