Community Tasting Notes 5

January 29, 2012 - Loved this wine! A great bargain!!

December 11, 2010 - Nose and initial taste are off-putting: asphalt/tar and barnyard. In the middle, the harsh notes were gone and it drank like a very typical $15-ish cab. Finish was longer than expected and quite nice. On second day, went down the drain. I didn't intend to buy this bottle (got confused with the better 'Antiguas' offering), and won't buy again, even at $8.

October 11, 2010 - Great wine for the price point. Drank this the same night as a st. Francis cab and it held up well to it despite being a lot younger and have the price. Starts out a little sharp, but mellows quickly. Great smooth finish.

August 6, 2010 - Given the price, I wasn't expecting much. It disappointed my low expectations. Faint nose, off-putting dirt/earthiness. Won't buy again.

May 23, 2009 - This is right up there in the list of best values from a Cab. A little tight at first, showing a little dark red fruit, some tobacco and a tannic grip. Opens up a little, to show a great earthiness on the finish, along with a more approachable soft front palate. I can't imagine what else I would ask for from a $10 cab. 87+
