March 10, 2022 - The wine manager comped me with a glass of this for sharing my Amarone with him and a couple of staff members at dinner. Not to shock true brandy aficianados, but I place a very small ice cube in my brandies to help open them up. Too small to cool the liquid, I find the cube does a better job than some spring water because there is a slower release. Very light almond color, spicy nose in which the alcohol was noticeable, but not unpleasant. In the mouth: cocoa, almonds, caramel, vanilla and spice. There was a slight burn at the end which was pleasant given the heavy and rich meal we had just consumed. I enjoyed it but have better options in my cellar at home.

OK, but no cigar. Lacking depth of flavor. A bit sharp, and as somebody noted, not as rich and creamy as it might be.

July 16, 2020 - Two years after my last review of this Bas Armagnac and I still enjoy it thoroughly. I agree with other writers that it can be a bit harsh, at least initially, and decided to lower my score two points. But it is so rich and pungent. It grows on you.

November 9, 2019 - Tasted at Berman's with the importer pouring. Very nice, soft and a bit fuller than the others tasted. The importer said this is due to more columbard in the mix. Unfortunately, the store was out of stock as I came to the tail end of the tastng. Sale price was $72 with $80 for the regular price

June 4, 2019 - I'm getting alcohol and a sense of plastic nosing the snifter before sipping. First sip is full of flavor and spiciness but has a noticeable alcohol burn for a 25 year old. It lacks the rich, silky creaminess of a brandy this old.
Old, aged oak with a touch of rancio is easily noticeable. As I continue sipping the alcohol burn becomes just a bit less noticeable but the spiciness holds it's ground.
I like this brandy but I don't believe I will buy it again, the less expensive Napoleon is a better buy.
    Update 6/9/19:
As the bottle level drops I'm beginning to think this brandy is plenty good in it's own way. Might have to raise my score for it...
Raised from 87 to 90, the spiciness of this is becoming addictive.
