Community Tasting Notes 8

March 30, 2016 - Note: I use a rating scale for which 85 represents a very good wine.

First, this wine needs some time to open. I decanted it into a large, flat bottomed decanter for 3 hours before drinking and it made a world of difference. Similar to many Barolos, this one needs some time.

After all this, a very good, but not great bottle. It was not as smooth an integrated as I hoped it would. It did have a characteristic "pruney" taste, and the tannins were in check.

I do not think any more time will matter, although it is a Barolo.

    January 31, 2013 - Yes, it improved a little.

    Not much though. 88-89

May 15, 2010 - Almost there. I would say that it should be drunk now or in the next year. decant for half hour. Has a fruity undertone to otherwise typical barolo.

January 18, 2010 - Brick red. Rosewater, red berries, red clay, wood shavings, tangerine. Medium in body. Tannins prominent, plenty of acidity too, fairly short finish. Not really hanging together real well, but may improve a bit over next two years.

January 11, 2010 - First day just tasted and recorked. Next day more approachable. Still pretty manly. Drank over abaout 90 minutes. Color was dark brick red. Nose of balckberry. Early I just tasted the tar and tannins, but as I continued drinking there were notes of blackberry and blood orange. Acidity really developed that was almost absent on first tasting. Pencil lead more prominent as well. Short-med finish. Enjoyed with veal parmesan and pasta with vodka sauce.
