Community Tasting Notes 3

September 3, 2011 - This Bordeaux-styled wine is soft and elegant: dominated by merlot, but with a good measure of cabernet and some Spanish grapes mixed in. Traditional cooperage and egg fining make it seem almost old-fashioned compared to many more avant garde Priorats. While it's not showy, it's solid, ready to drink and great with food.

August 19, 2011 - Bright, mainly red fruit, intermingled with ripe dark berries, sweet spices, cherry-like acidity and a hint of chocolate. Quite balanced, with well-integrated alcohol (the label states 14,5%, which is not noticeable). Drinking well now, but no need to hurry.

January 16, 2010 - I believe I bought this wine from our monopoly at a discount price sometime during spring 2009 when it was to be taken out of the catalog. The original price was around 25€ (paid something around 19€) so it wasn't exactly a cheap bottle at my standards to begin with but I wasn't familiar with the region it comes from and as I see it these are the only discounts we're going to get so might aswell take advantage of them. The wine was to be enjoyed sort of as a dessert with Gruyere cheese and it wasn't that big of a surprise that these two worked beautifully together right off the bat. Lots of dark berries both in the nose and the palate accompanied with a good deal of spicyness from the mid-palate until the very end made this wine very enjoyable. It reminded me of some Rioja Reservas I've had before and was complex enough to offer enough good value for the price. I think this wine had a very nice balance between fruit, dirt and spices and I would definitely recommend it.
